Walking El Camino De Santiago

My observations as I walk El Camino De Santiago.

A journey starts with the first step – setting out from Sarria, Spain, May 2016

In 2016 I walked with Jane and a group of close friends from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela on the Camino Francés.

In May 2022 I set out to walk a further section of the Camino Francés on my own, from Burgos to León, but continued on to my 2016 starting point in Sarria!

In April to June 2023 Jane and I are walked a portion of Le Chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle, starting in Arzacq-Arraziguet in France and walked 140km on the Via Podiensis to St Jean Pied de Port, then onwards on the Camino Francés to Burgos in Spain.

So that saw me complete the whole Camino Francés – 810km!!

Now in 2024 el Camino draws Jane and I back as well as Haz, who is wondering why we keep banging on about the Camino!! You can follow our journey on this Blog, by adding your email address below. I’ll be practising my Spanish along the way.

About Me

I very much enjoyed the walk on the Camino Francés from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela in 2016, but it was only for six days – so my appetite had been whet. Upon returning home Jane and I wanted to do more walking adventures and successfully completed the Queen Charlotte Track (70km) and Routeburn Track (38km) in the South Island of NZ in January 2018, the Three Capes Track (31km) in Tasmania in November 2018, the Great Ocean Walk (56km) in Victoria in 2019, the Shackleton Walk (6km) across South Georgia in February 2020, Senda Costera (8km), Senda El Fitz Roy (26km) and Senda a Laguna Torre (21km) in Patagonia, Chile, in March 2020 and Mutawintji NP Bynguano Range Walking Track (10km) in NSW in May 2021.
